Shawmut is a station on the Ashmont branch Red Line subway on Dayton Street between Centre Street and Lyndhurst Street in Dorchester, Massachusetts. The station is part of an almost shallow cut-and-cover subway tunnel that runs by Wellesley Park and Cronin Playground. It opened on September 1, 1928, and with a 420-foot platform, was the only prewar station that could accommodate six-car trains. There are currently no MBTA bus connections. It is close to Dorchester's Codman Square, where buses can be found.

The station underwent a major renovation, which as of 2008 is substantially complete with only minor work remaining;[1] it is now wheelchair accessible.[2]
